Klamath Falls Oregon Stake 2008 Goals

While Jeremiah and I were in California visiting his family we went to church in the branch that covers the town where his mom lives. It's the Keno Oregon branch which is part of the Klamath Falls Oregon Stake and they had these bookmarks that caught my attention that contained their stake goals for 2008. I wanted to share the goals on here as I thought they were pretty awesome goals:
  1. Always remember the Lord Jesus Christ; take upon you His name and keep His commandments.
  2. Put a smile on your face...speak out with words of live and peace, appreciation and respect. - President Gordon B. Hinckley
  3. Create the true spirit of the gospel in your heart and home by having regular family prayer, regular Family Home Evening, and regular personal and family scripture study.
  4. Be a light unto others by lettings people know who you are and what you believe.
  5. Focus on the ordinances and principles taught in the temple.
I was really impressed that these were their goals for the year and they're not extremely difficult goals or very in depth and time consuming but rather things that if worked towards, could potentially have life changing results. The consequences of these goals could affect not only those working towards the goals but so many lives around them. What a neat thing.

Motivational Thought for the Day

“Men are afraid to rock the boat in which they hope to drift safely through life’s currents, when, actually, the boat is stuck on a sandbar.  They would be better off to rock the boat and try to shake it loose, or, better still, jump in the water and swim for the shore.”   Thomas Szasz

Motivational Thought for the Day

“To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.  This is to have succeeded.”

Good morning from Macdoel, California!

Its a beautiful morning here in northern California! The air is crisp and clean, the irrigation is on, and the birds are chirping like crazy. Its nice to come to places like this to be reminded of the beauty that exists outside of the city life.

Update from California

Its Saturday afternoon and we're hanging out at a park in Redding, California. The weather has been just about perfect (with the exception of a few wind gusts) and its been a lot of fun to get to know Jeremiah's family some. His dad, Tim, is here with his girlfriend Buzzy, Tim's mom, Helen, Jeremiah's sister Shasta joined us with her baby Xavies, and Jeremiah's older sister December, husband David and their three kids came up also. Its been a pretty cool thing to be here and get to them some and to become friends with all of them.

After this its time to head back up to Macdoel for the evening and the day tomorrow before we head back to Utah on Monday.

:) Andy
